Enviroment

PEAL holds international environmental certification for its Environmental Management System according to the UNE-EN-ISO 14001: 2004.

Given the activities we carry out daily; the utmost respect for the environment is the first principle governing the way we work. That is why we are relentless in demanding total compliance with environmental regulations.

To meet this challenge, PEAL has international environmental certification for its Environmental Management System according to the UNE-EN-ISO 14001: 2004.

The Integrated Quality and Environment Management System involves all processes and organizational structures being certified and these are systematically audited.

Environmental planning and management is set out for each project and these must ensure
compliance with the guidelines and environmental procedures as defined in the PEAL environmental management plan.

Environmental Management System

We recognise the importance of rigorously applying each of the aspects in order to demonstrate PEAL’s ongoing commitment to the environment.

Through continuous environmental education with regular training and information campaigns we have combined an environmentally conscientious team of staff, subcontractors and suppliers.

Our own established policy of Quality and Environment also applies to our subcontractors.

We carry out responsible environmental procedures that lead to continuous improvement.

We manage waste properly.

Vigilance in the identification and application of environmental regulations affecting every project- verification and assessment of the environmental application requirements. We use the most appropriate technical procedures in order to ensure the most sustainable execution of the works. PEAL is aware that natural resources are limited and insists on them being used responsibly.

We ensure compliance through regular audits and inspections of control documents related to environmental issues in every project.

We clearly define responsibilities and ensure the proper implementation of the Environmental Management Plan.

Environmental Management Plan (EMP).

Each individual project Environmental Management Plan (EMP) aims to meet legal and other applicable requirements. Policy, objectives and goals are set to establish a control on what is done with reference to the environment. It applies to all activities of the company and its subcontractors, in order to reduce their impact on the environment.

The management plan identifies the environmental externalities from activities; emissions of dust and particles into the atmosphere, smoke and gases, noise and vibration, waste, raw materials and natural resources. Changes caused by activity and their significance are classified and a set of measures
and controls are put in place to reduce, or where possible, eliminate entirely the impact of the processes on the environment.

Good Environmental practices.

The measures contained in the manual of good Practices PEAL, brings a number of benefits:

Preserving natural resources: Reducing unnecessary consumption. Reducing pollution.

Reducing the cost of waste management: by reducing the generation of waste. Promoting re-use and recycling.

Improving the company’s image in society.

Striving to be a model of sustainable development in compliance with our business objectives.

Waste management.

One of the most important features of the company’s Environmental Management procedure is the appropriate management of waste, a consumption forecast is created for each project, which includes the type of waste and the approximate quantities that will be generated during the project.
Measures used among others:

Waste Area. Establishing a suitable location for waste storage.

Separation. The segregation of different waste.

Labelling. Have a sufficient amount of drums and containers and identify them with labels. Keep containers closed.

Authorised Agents. Appoint authorised agents for proper management according to the classification of the waste. We seek a more effective management by selecting those who monetise the residual effects and who can, in many cases, find a second use.

Subcontractors. To subcontractors; declaration on environmental policy is mandatory and information about necessary requirements should be provided before commencement of project.
